The pairing of a solid Red Cedar top and Mahogany back and sides generates booming low end and great projection from this dreadnought. Cedar is generally darker in tone and visible color than spruce, creating a warm, mellow sound. Mahogany is the most commonly used hardwood because it is relatively economical, durable, attractive, easy to work with and very resonant due to its density. The fretboard is made of Indian Laurel wood, a great looking and sounding alterative to rosewood and the Mahogany neck adds to the depth of this guitar's sonic range. The body is bound in Maple helping tie in the Maple/Mahogany rosette to give you a classic combination with the Teton innovations that produce a guitar with fantastic tone, rich harmonics, and an increased volume level. All Tetons go through a rarification process (rarified tops and back). This is a natural process that doesn’t overheat or discolor the wood. Guitars are placed in a chemical free vacuum sealed environment that removes impurities and sap. This makes the wood much stronger and improves the tone and makes for a natural and better aging process. Most factories buy green wood and then bake it like a cookie to dry it. They vacuum dry the wood, no heat involved.
