Introduced in 1959, the Gibson Melody Maker was the entry level in those days listed for $165. Notable players include Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Terry Kath of Chicago, and Joan Jett. The Mahogany body has a nicely checked sunburst finish, wraparound tail piece, and single single-coil pickup mounted to the black pickguard with master volume and tone and "Melody Maker" silkscreen. The set Mahogany neck and unbound Rosewood fingerboard are of similar construction to the SG and Les Paul Juniors and has the same stripped down "raw" vibe of those guitars also. This guitar was repaired previously and we did an extensive restoration including a headstock repair to ensure the lifetime playability of this instrument. It plays and sounds great as well. Original hardshell case included.
