The Vega Company's heyday was the first three decades of the 20th century, when they were producing some of the best banjos ever made (and in large numbers). Vega survived the transition to archtop guitars since they already had experience with building excellent guitars and mandolins, but their sales were never quite the same after the banjo era faded. They were pioneers of electrification, adding pickups to just about anything with strings in the mid '30s. Being about 64 years old it's no surprise this E-50 has significant cosmetic wear, including a replaced tuning machine, but still plays and sounds like a dream!
