1952 Precision Bass / Blonde w/ HSC ~by appointment only~
By appointment only / local pickup only. This is truly an amazing example of one of the earliest Fender basses produced in the first factory in Fullerton, California. It is an early 1952 original Blonde Fender Precision Bass in Very Good condition. It is still wearing it’s original 1950's factory see-thru Blonde lacquer finish over the beautiful select grain Ash wood on the body, and the beautiful played-in clear grain quarter sawn Maple neck. The pick gard is original Bakelite material (pre-plastic, like the old Bell telephones from that time). The original markings in this instrument that were photographed for this listing show a hand written Kenney Jones 9-5-52 in the neck cavity and "FG 10-15-52" on the neck heel, bringing this bass to a manufacture year of 1952. Being a very early production Precision bass, it has slot head screws on the pick guard, on the reverse tuning machines, on the neck plate and in the neck on the truss rod, for adjustment. The serial number is stamped into the bridge and reads 0443. This bass plays, sounds and feels terrific, like an icon bass from this era should. This is a true time capsule and may be the finest playing and sounding example available for purchase at this time. It rings out loud and clear, even acoustically, without amplification. This would be a fantastic addition to a professional players' on-stage bass selection or to a collectors coveted stash. Please view all the detailed photos to determine condition to your standards and expectations. There is real honest playing wear on this instrument, considering it is 72 year old age, as opposed to some others that show actual damage or having been refurbished or refinished - losing it's originality along the way. This bass includes a 60's hard shell Fender bass case with the orange velvet lining and black tolex exterior. Due to the tremendous value and collectability of this iconic bass, it is listed as local pickup only. The right buyer of this fantastic find will have to arrange their own shipping or buy a seat on a plane to their destination. We can't risk damage or loss in the standard shipping arena. We will, however, assist in delivering the instrument to a packer and shipper of the buyers choice, within a reasonable distance of our location.
