The Gibson EB-0 series of basses based on the SG design is a true American classic. This is a great opportunity for a player to get into one of these legendary basses at a nice price!
From its SG body launch in 1961 to its demise decades later, it remained Gibson's most popular bass, making up almost a third of all Gibson solid body bass sales. Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson Five, Jack Bruce of Cream, Billy Kinsley of the Mersey Beats, Dave Ambrose of the Brian Auger Trinity, and Dennis Dunaway of Alice Cooper all gravitated towards the EB-0 style basses and it's cousin, the dual pickup EB-3 for its key features like the 30" scale length, 1.72" nut width, lightweight mahogany construction, and deep humbucking tones. Simple volume and tone controls are all you need to dial in this great playing vintage bass. The action is low at a comfortable 1/16" at the 12th fret and it weighs in at only 7 pounds! Replacement upgrade tuning machines were added likely to improve overall balance and tuning, yet it retains the original bridge and hand and finger rests. This bass has developed a headstock crack, many years ago, that has been professionally repaired and touched up. It also has upgraded tuners and the original tuner holes are visible (see pictures). The pickup has been updated as well with an original looking upgraded pickup that can be wired for a coil split for a more defined tone, if the future owner likes.
