Gibson introduced in the EB-3 in 1961 as a short scale dual humbucker bass. It went on to be used by legends such as Jack Bruce of Cream, Andy Fraser of Free, and Jermaine Jackson of the Jackson 5. These basses were constructed in a similar fashion as the SG guitars they mirrored with a Mahogany body, set Mahogany neck and Rosewood finger board, but with a slotted headstock. The Epiphone EB-3 offers players a large sonic palette with individual Volume and Tone controls for the full sized neck and mini bridge humbuckers along with a rotary switch often referred to as a "chicken head" knob. Where this bass differs is in the function of this chicken head knob. Originally designed with different capacitors on a 5-way switch, this 3-way switch works as your pickup selector ranging from bridge, bridge and neck, or just neck for raw fundamental bass tones.
